Saint Bartholomew
The San Bartolomé massacre marks a paroxysm of violence in the French wars of religion. For three days, Catholics attacked Protestant homes in Paris and killed about 4,000 people. The riots then spread to other regions for several weeks.
The festivities in honour of St. Bartholomew include masses and liturgical acts, as well as various cultural manifestations that recall his life and legacy.
